چکیده

Abstract Thermoelectric properties of single crystal Ta 2 PdSe 6 is investigated by means transport measurements, and a density functional calculation. We found giant Peltier conductivity 100 A cm −1 K at 10 successfully explained it conventional semiconductor theory. concluded that an uncompensated semimetal, high mobility, heavy effective mass are responsible for the conductivity. Our finding opens new ground in field thermoelectrics to explore much better semimetals possible application such as electric current generator superconducting magnet.

Universal optical conductivity of a disordered Weyl semimetal

Topological Weyl semimetals, besides manifesting chiral anomaly, can also accommodate a disorder-driven unconventional quantum phase transition into a metallic phase. A fundamentally and practically important question in this regard concerns an experimentally measurable quantity that can clearly distinguish these two phases. We show that the optical conductivity while serving this purpose can a...

Infrared conductivity of elemental bismuth under pressure: evidence for an avoided Lifshitz-type semimetal-semiconductor transition.

The application of pressure to elemental bismuth reduces its conduction-valence band overlap, and results in a semimetal-semiconductor (SMSC) transition around 25 kbar. This transition is nominally of the topological "Lifshitz" Fermi surface variety, but there are open questions about the role of interactions at low charge densities. Using a novel pressure cell with optical access, we have perf...

Giant superconducting fluctuations in the compensated semimetal FeSe at the BCS–BEC crossover

The physics of the crossover between weak-coupling Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) and strong-coupling Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) limits gives a unified framework of quantum-bound (superfluid) states of interacting fermions. This crossover has been studied in the ultracold atomic systems, but is extremely difficult to be realized for electrons in solids. Recently, the superconducting semime...

Giant magnetoresistance, three-dimensional Fermi surface and origin of resistivity plateau in YSb semimetal

Very strong magnetoresistance and a resistivity plateau impeding low temperature divergence due to insulating bulk are hallmarks of topological insulators and are also present in topological semimetals where the plateau is induced by magnetic field, when time-reversal symmetry (protecting surface states in topological insulators) is broken. Similar features were observed in a simple rock-salt-s...

Suppressed phase transition and giant ionic conductivity in La2Mo2O9 nanowires

Improving the ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes at low temperatures represents a major challenge and an opportunity for enabling a variety of solid-state ionic devices for energy conversion and storage, as well as for environmental protection. Here we report a giant ionic conductivity of 0.20 Scm(-1), achieved at 500 °C, in the La2Mo2O9 nanowires with a bamboo-wire morphology, correspond...
